Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council

MISSION | VISION | VALUES

MISSION

The mission of the Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council (OMSDC) is to create and foster an environment for the development of mutually beneficial relationships and opportunities between Certified Minority Business Enterprises and Member organizations.

Our desire to fulfill our mission is embedded in the mission of the NMSDC, which is to expand opportunities for minority-owned companies; to encourage mutually beneficial economic links between minority suppliers and the public and private sectors; and to help build a stronger, more equitable society by supporting and promoting minority business development. OMSDC is an advocate and stresses the importance of supplier diversity. To become a Corporate Member of OMSDC the corporation must have a diversity program in place, or be willing to implement one.

VISION

The vision of the OMSDC is to be the premier, trusted & essential business solutions provider to Corporate America through the development of world-class minority business enterprises that transform communities, achieve excellence, and produce economic equity.

HISTORY

In the early 1970s, NMSDC-affiliated councils were established in Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati and Cleveland by each business community. In 1999, it was determined that the communities each council operated in would be better served if the three individual councils merged to form the South Central Ohio Minority Business Council. After a couple of years, SCOMBC officially merged in February 2002.

In September of 2008, SCOMBC changed its name to the South Central Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council (SCOMSDC) to better align its identity to the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC).

In December 2013, the South Central Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council (SCOMSDC) and the Northern Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council (NOMSDC) merged to form the Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council (OMSDC).
