The Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber and Duke Energy foundations will provide $5,000 grants to minority, women and veteran-owned small business in need of general reliefs.

The grants are aimed at helping businesses recover from the pandemic and its economic effects. It’s the second year of the program.

“Our small business customers, which are a foundation of our communities, continue to struggle as the pandemic persists,” said Amy Spiller, president of Duke Energy Ohio and Kentucky. “This meaningful program with the Cincinnati Chamber allows us to have a direct impact on these customers to help them succeed.”

Chamber members and nonmembers are eligible for the funding. Applicants must have less than $1 million in annual revenues and have fewer than 100 employees. The application deadline is Sept. 17.

Derrick Braziel, owner of Pata Roja Taqueria, received a grant last year.

“We’ve had our best year yet and it’s due to support from Duke and the chamber,” he said.

Both chamber members and non-members are eligible to apply for the funding.

The grants can be used to help support payroll, paid sick or medical leave, insurance premiums, mortgage payments, legal assistance, technical assistance and other debt obligations. The funding cannot be used to pay Duke Energy utility bills.

The application deadline is September 17, 2021 – https://www.cincinnatichamber.com/duke-fund
